About Us, Methodology & Legal
Who’s behind LuzCoche, how we know which bulb size every car takes, how we make money with Amazon and how we handle your data (spoiler: we barely touch it).
Who we are
LuzCoche is an independent project run by a small team. It started with something that happens to almost everyone: a light burns out, you go to buy a bulb and you have no idea whether your car takes a 9005, an H11 or an H7. To fix that, we built a database that links every generation of every model to the bulb for each of its lights and, from there, to the bulbs you can buy on Amazon today.
We’re not affiliated with any automaker or lighting manufacturer. We don’t sell anything directly, and nobody pays us to be listed or to get a particular spot on the page.
Methodology
Every car page is built following the same steps:
- Bulb chart: we cross-check it against owner’s manuals and the bulb finders of major lighting manufacturers and auto parts retailers. If sources disagree, we leave that position blank until it’s confirmed: we’d rather say nothing than say something wrong.
- By generation: we separate each generation of each model (and refreshes that change the headlights), because the same nameplate can take different bulbs depending on the model year.
- Amazon bulb selection: we only show products whose title names the exact size (9005, 194…) and no other, to filter out generic listings that claim to fit everything. Size cross-references such as 9005 = HB3, 9006 = HB4 and 194 = W5W are treated as the same bulb. For headlights, we exclude LED retrofit kits.
- LuzCoche score: we rank bulbs with our own score that combines the average customer rating and the number of reviews (a high average with very few reviews counts for less). Established lighting brands get a small bonus.
- Availability: stock is checked automatically every Monday and Thursday. Out-of-stock products are hidden until they’re available again.
We don’t accept paid placements. Even so, we can make mistakes: if you spot a wrong bulb, email us and we’ll fix it. Before you buy, always check the old bulb or your owner’s manual.
Amazon affiliate disclosure
LuzCoche is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, LuzCoche earns from qualifying purchases.
You pay exactly the same price. The commission is what keeps the database running, and it has no influence on which bulb we list for each car.
Contact
You can email us at hola@luzcoche.com. We usually reply within 48 to 72 hours.
If your car isn’t on the site, send us the year, make and model and, if you can, a photo of the old bulb or the bulb chart from your owner’s manual. That’s all we need to add it.
Legal notice
This website is owned by LuzCoche. Full details of the owner are available on request at hola@luzcoche.com.
The content is provided for informational purposes only. We do our best to keep it accurate and up to date, but equipment varies by trim, market and model year: before you buy, check the old bulb or your owner’s manual. Prices and availability are set by Amazon and may change at any time. Headlight bulbs must comply with federal lighting standards (DOT / FMVSS 108) and with your state’s vehicle equipment and inspection rules; LED retrofit bulbs in halogen headlight housings are generally not compliant for on-road use.
