Which D1S to buy: standard, brighter or long life
- OEM or OEM-equivalent: the same color temperature as the factory bulb (around 4,300 K). The one to get if you’re only replacing one.
- Brighter: versions like Philips X-tremeVision or Osram Xenarc Night Breaker give more reach while keeping the same color.
- Replace them in pairs: a new HID bulb has a different tint than a used one.

What is a D1S bulb?
The D1S is a 35 W, 12 V automotive bulb with a PK32d-2 base. It’s also sold as 66140 and 85415.
Is the D1S the same as the D3S?
No. Even if they look alike, each size has a different base (PK32d-2 on the D1S) and won’t fit another size’s socket. Always buy the exact size your car takes.
What vehicles use a D1S bulb?
Among others, the Chrysler 300 LX, Dodge Challenger LC and Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2. The full list, with the position each one uses it for, is on this page.
Can I replace a D1S with an LED?
No. Xenon (HID) headlights are designed for gas-discharge bulbs; LED conversion kits for D-series bulbs are not DOT compliant.
